Copywriting Tips - Bullet Points - Bonuses - And Baloney
Interesting collection of topics in this installment of copywriting tips. You're probably wondering what I mean by baloney. Well don't worry, I'll be covering that in great detail in this article. In addition, you'll get some killer tips on bullet points and bonuses. Armed with this info, your copy will improve by leaps and bounds. But if that doesn't work...well, you'll find out. Keep reading to discover some great secrets to my success.
Biggest mistake beginning copywriters make with bullet points is that they give their prospect a list of features of their product. One example is a piece of software I just saw that listed all these things that the software does. Well, that's all well and good, but so what? People don't buy things because of what they do. They buy things because of how those things are going to make their life easier. So in addition to telling somebody that your new PC has a 4 gig processor, how about telling them in your bullet point something like "Save countless hours in processing time" or something similar? THAT is what sells.
Bonuses are like the black hole of copywriting. In today's day and age, you're almost forced to give your customers a bonus or two. How many sales pages do you see where there are absolutely no bonuses? I know of very few myself. The trouble with bonuses, as a copywriter, is that you have no control over them, unless it's your product. Well, it's time to take control. If you are doing a job for somebody and their bonuses are garbage, you need to tell them that. You need to have your client dig up a bonus that's worth writing about. Otherwise your copy is going to suffer...for many reasons.
But, if all that fails, there is always baloney. What do I mean by baloney? I'm talking about including things in your copy that no rational person would believe. Sure, you might be able to fool some people into thinking that your product is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but if you want to remain believable, you'll present the facts in an interesting, but accurate manner. Otherwise prospects will see right through you and you won't make the sale. Keep it real and check out my other articles on the subject of copywriting.
